Antisense Pharma develops innovative drugs for targeted therapy of malignant tumors and other as yet incurable diseases. The most important therapeutic approach is to help the body’s own immune system to recognize tumor cells and successfully destroy them.

Trabedersen (AP 12009) is a highly specific antisense drug that targets the protein “transforming growth factor beta 2” (TGF-β2), a very important component of the tumor´s defence against the immune system. Trabedersen has been evaluated in a randomized Phase IIb study in patients with high grade glioma and a Phase I/II study in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer, malignant melanoma or colorectal cancer. The available results are very promising, which is why further studies in patients with high grade glioma and advanced pancreatic carcinoma are being planned. Furthermore, trabedersen has shown a very good safety profile, which is something expected of a drug that is not itself toxic, but rather, is involved in mediating the specific activity of the immune system against the tumor cells.

The efficacy of trabedersen against bronchial, prostate and renal cell cancer as well as other malignant tumors is being evaluated in preclinical studies.
